Located on 2,500 acres of land in central Maine, our Somerset Mill is an integrated pulping and papermaking operation where we manufacture graphic papers, packaging and label papers and bleached chemical pulp. The three world-class paper machines at Somerset include the recent rebuild of Paper Machine 1, which is now the most advanced paper machine in the market.

We’ve engineered Somerset Mill’s process to deliver papers that provide superior printing surfaces with optimal web strength, heft and stiffness—features that deliver efficiency on press to our printing customers. Somerset Mill's graphic papers, with their exceptional print gloss and uniform surfaces, are the premier choice for effective direct mail applications, corporate collateral and high-end magazines, books and catalogs, including titles for leading fashion and shelter magazines.
Our high-quality brands offer paper-based, sustainable solutions that replace fossil-fuel based, nonrenewable packaging. We deliver packaging for premium applications with our paperboard brands, and our trusted C1S papers offer solutions for labels, bags, retail displays, and more.

Job Openings at Somerset Mill
Our team in Somerset is committed to giving back to their local communities. The Somerset Mill's volunteer efforts and financial contributions support more than 300 local organizations including the Community Health and Counseling Center, the Boys & Girls Club, the Maine Special Olympics and over 25 local school programs. Mill employees donate thousands of hours to community groups every year.
Other mills
Located on the banks of the St Louis River since 1898, our Cloquet Mill, in addition to dissolving pulp (DP), also produces some of our most requested graphic papers.
The Matane Mill, located in the province of Quebec in Canada, is the newest addition to the Sappi North America family, producing high-quality, high-yield bleached chemi-thermo mechanical pulp (BCTMP).

The Westbrook Technology Center is a research and development location that houses approximately 50 technicians, engineers and scientists.
