“The industry is serious about sustainability in print.” This was Sappi Fine Paper Europe’s take-home message following its participation in EcoPrint 2012 (www.ecoprintshow.com), positioned as the world’s first exhibition and event 100% focused on sustainable print business.
The sun came out to greet the 15 teams competing in Sappi fine Paper Europe's Royal Challenge Bike Race on Saturday 13th October. The 4 members of Benelux’s Team Roto (Rotosmeets) demonstrated true endurance skills, and team work, by claiming victory in the 70km time trial. Held around Sappi’s Nijmegen paper mill in Holland, the event marked the launch of a new range of product brochures for Sappi Royal Roto, Sappi Royal Press 400 and Sappi Royal Xpress, some of Sappi’s best known products used for leading magazines, catalogues, inserts, flyers and commercial print.
Europe wins seven out of a possible eleven coveted trophies in a demonstration of printing prowess, and commitment to excellence in printed communication, embodying the essence of Sappi’s biannual International Printers of the Year Awards.
In the light of further, sustained increases in raw materials, energy and transport costs, Sappi Fine Paper Europe has reviewed current margins for its Graphic papers and will raise its prices where they have become unsustainable.
Sappi Fine Paper Europe is very proud to have won one award in the 2012 Pulp & Paper International Awards, during a ceremony hosted on 12 November in Brussels. The awards are dedicated to recognising the achievements of companies, mills and individuals in the pulp and paper sector and are truly global in scale.
Sappi UK is delighted to be participating in the Worldskills UK National Finals (NEC Brimingham 15-17 Nov) as Official Competition Sponsors for Offset Printing. The show is one of the UK’s biggest skills and careers events developed to inspire and motivate fashion designers, web developers, engineers and of course the printers of tomorrow with exciting opportunities in further education, skills and apprenticeships.
On the 16th of November, employees from Sappi Fine Paper Europe’s Headquarters in Brussels headed out to the Forêt de Soignes, armed with 2750 saplings, ready to be planted. Sustainability is an everyday reality at Sappi, and this initiative is ‘real’ example of how Sappi people can, and do, embrace sustainability on a day to day basis.
Sappi Fine Paper Europe today confirmed it is proceeding with its previously announced price increase for woodfree coated sheets and reels as per January/February 2013. Over recent months it has become apparent that the decline in Indent prices for woodfree coated sheets over the last few months means that this business is now heavily subsidized and at current raw material prices is generating structural losses.
Jazzing it up with Digital – Sappi Fine Paper Europe to present new digital Sappi l Jaz book in Lucerne. Sappi Fine Paper Europe is gearing up to present Sappi l Jaz book, its new coated digital paper, at the 10th edition of the Hunkeler innovationdays 2013 (11th – 15th Feb 2013).
