Sappi Fine Paper Europe was centre stage during the 25th Printissimo Emballismo awards in Vienna Austria, which took place on the 14th of June 2012. The annual awards recognise the sustainable, creative and technically perfect use of paper cardboard and corrugated paper.
Using the power of print to make a difference and influence positive change : winners of Sappi Fine Paper Europe’s 2012 Ideas that Matter Competition are announced, drawing attention to issues that are just on our doorstep.
In 2012, as part of a number of initiatives that Sappi is taking to work more closely with its customers under the banner of Sappi, the art of adding value, the company announced its decision to go and meet the winners of the European Printers of the Year and celebrate with them locally (rather than have the winners come to them).
The creative, high quality and sustainable paper production capabilities of Sappi’s Alfeld Mill have received leading industry recognition with a number of nominations for the PPI Awards 2012.
Reflecting one of the key characteristics of Sappi Fine Paper Europe’s Royal range of paper – ENDURANCE – Sappi is hosting the first ever competitive bike race for clients, customers and Sappi employees through the countryside, surrounding its Nijmegen paper mill, on 13th October 2012
Sappi Alfeld Mill to refocus production to meet strong growth in demand from the Release Liner and Flexpack paper markets. Coated paper production to be moved to other Sappi Mills in Europe.

Launched by Minister-President of Flanders (Belgium), Kris Peeters on Friday, 28th September, the Treehouse (www.the-treehouse.be) is the result of a joint vision and partnership between Sappi Fine Paper Europe, ANB (the Agency for Nature and Forests), the Belgian Municipality of Hechtel-Eksel, and communication agency Proximity BBDO.
“The industry is serious about sustainability in print.” This was Sappi Fine Paper Europe’s take-home message following its participation in EcoPrint 2012 (www.ecoprintshow.com), positioned as the world’s first exhibition and event 100% focused on sustainable print business.
