Our Sustainability Customer Council in North America is a forum to hear feedback from some of our strongest customer voices on emerging trends in sustainability. The Customer Council brings diverse customer segments together including: distribution, print manufacturers, publishers, packaging entities and corporate end users of graphics papers, paperboard and DP for textiles.
During Council meetings, we discuss what is driving strategies and decisions around sustainable business practices and learn more about opportunities and trends. “The insight we gain from this council is so helpful” explains Sandy Taft, Director Sustainability. He notes that it's easy to get tied up at the mill.

The voice of the customer was a significant driver in Sappi's decision to pursue the Science Based Targets Initiative. The organisation champions science-based target setting in the transition to the low-carbon economy. It's a collaboration between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). This is just one example of how the Council helps us progress on our journey to become an even more sustainable company.
