Ambitious project transformed Papermaking Machine PM 2 to better align with today’s market realities Sappi’s ambitious €60m transformation of Alfeld Mill’s PM 2 was concluded on schedule with the quality exceeding expectations.
The room was filled with tension as teams from all over Europe assembled to compete for the 2014 final of the Sappi Cup Table Football Tournament. Now in its fifth year, the tournament has become a firm tradition based on intense local competition, culminating in an exhilarating play-off in Brussels, hosted by Sappi Europe HQ. The tournament is for Sappi customers, printers and publishers and is clearly going from strength to strength.
Sappi Fine Paper Europe is targeting new markets with an expanded weight range in its Algro Sol portfolio of release liners following the successful €60m transformation of Alfeld Mill’s PM2. The development of the effective lightweight efficiency liners has been made possible by the new 135-ton, 6.4 meters in diameter MG cylinder recently installed on PM2 in the Sappi Alfeld mill. It produces excellent high dimensional stability and surface properties of Algro Sol papers that favour converting.
