The world’s oceans are under increasing pressure, which is why it’s important to maintain marine biodiversity. That’s the overarching focus of the Saiccor Mill outfall monitoring programme.
At Sappi, we believe that the right approach when managing timber is to integrate forest management–especially timber harvesting–into the local culture by sharing information and collaborating with local communities and the public, as showcased in these three coastal Maine harvests.
Surrounded by the scenic mountains and forests of Trentino in northern Italy, the over 130 employees at Condino Mill are especially conscious of their environment. Finding ways to become more eco-effective —reducing waste, emissions and maximising material and resource use — is a challenge they have embraced with enthusiasm and ingenuity.
Maine Coasters & Bio-Boards (Maine Coasters) envisioned producing biodegradable coasters manufactured from Sappi softwood pulp and spent grains leftover from the brewing process.
The wood-boring Cossid Moth (Coryphodema tristis) has a broad range of native tree hosts in South Africa.
Sustainability is a key focus across Sappi, but at Maastricht Mill, the team has gone one step further. Maastricht is sponsoring six young people who have officially become the mill’s Sustainability Ambassadors. 
We’re unlocking the chemistry of trees to meet the challenges of a carbon-constrained world. 
Congratulations to Stockstadt Mill, which has received its fourth Gold Safety Award. In 2019, the mill achieved one million man-hours worked without a reportable accident!  
Sappi ReFibre, Sappi Southern Africa’s secondary fibre division, sources used paper products from an extensive network of agents across the Southern African region as well as from waste producers.
