BOSTON – Sappi Fine Paper North America today announced it has been named the 2012 Maine Manufacturer of the Year by the Maine Forest Products Council (MFPC). As a first-time winner, Sappi is being recognized for its continued success in Maine with acknowledgements for innovative strategy, dedicated investment, value-added service, environmental leadership, safety performance and community involvement.
The 2012 Maine Manufacturer of the Year award is evaluated based on six key criteria, including, how the company is:
- Developing and implementing innovative approaches to its business in effort to remain successful and differentiate itself from competition;
- Adding value to its products and processes for customers;
- Providing a clean and safe working environment for employees, including government regulations and training programs;
- Contributing to environmental programs in the local community;
- Creating an overall positive impression of the facility, the process and worker productivity;
- Directing strategic growth initiatives for long-term success.
