EcoVadis
Sappi Europe and Sappi North America maintained a platinum rating and Sappi Southern Africa achieved a gold rating on EcoVadis during FY2025. The change in the SSA rating was due to a change in methodology in 2025 that applies a country risk rating. In the case of South Africa, this is -6%, which resulted in the scoring dropping from platinum to gold. Excluding the risk rating, the scoring for the region improved year-on-year.
CDP
Sappi Limited received an outstanding A score for Forests in 2025 by CDP, as well as A- for Climate Change and B for Water Security, all reflecting ongoing progress.
Global accolades
WBCSD’s Reporting Matters assessment
Sappi is proud to have been recognised by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) in their annual ‘Reporting Matters’ assessment. Our 2023 sustainability report was highlighted as a best practice example for Balance, reflecting our commitment to transparent, comprehensive, and candid communication of our progress, challenges, and opportunities. This acknowledgment underscores our dedication to accountability and continuous improvement as we strive to deliver sustainable solutions that create shared value for our stakeholders and the planet.

Presidential Lowveld Legacy Award 2024
In November 2024, the Kruger Lowveld Chamber of Business and Tourism (KLBCT) recognised Sappi’s Ngodwana Mill for its contributions to the community and regional economic growth. The mill has been a cornerstone of the community since 1966, providing employment for thousands of individuals over the decades and fostering growth and innovation.
UK Packaging Awards 2024
In October 2024, Sappi Rockwell Solutions was awarded 'Design Team of the Year' with its newly developed StarPaper product, a unique high-performance, paper lidding using proprietary heat seal coating. This is a first to market ovenable dual solution paper lidding product.
SEAL Business Sustainability Awards 2024
In May 2024, Sappi North America won the Environmental Initiative Award in the 2024 SEAL Business Sustainability Awards, recognising Sappi’s proactive leadership with the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI ® ) to enhance SFI’s Forest Management and Fibre Sourcing Standards requirements related to climate smart forestry, fire resilience, logger training, due diligence systems and forests of exceptional conservation value.
Sappi’s commitment to sustainable forestry practices is exemplified by innovative measures to conserve biodiversity, such as landscape-scale assessments and landowner/logger educational and outreach materials, community engagement and cooperative efforts of the SFI Implementation Committees (SICs).
