Overview
The Cloquet Mill is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to serve as the site's primary civil and structural engineering resource. This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of civil infrastructure, building improvements, hydroelectric assets, and capital projects that directly support the success of our 700+ employee operation.
In this role, you will partner closely with Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, and Project Engineering teams to develop and execute projects that improve safety, reliability, efficiency, and long-term sustainability across the mill. From initial concept through project completion, you will play a key role in shaping the future of the site.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the mill's primary Civil/Structural Engineering resource.
- Lead capital projects from feasibility and conceptual design through construction, commissioning, and closeout.
- Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and cost estimates.
- Provide technical guidance and support to project teams across the mill.
- Manage engineering consultants, contractors, and vendors.
- Support the design, maintenance, and improvement of mill structures and civil infrastructure.
- Assist with troubleshooting and problem-solving related to operations and maintenance.
- Prepare hydro dam safety inspection reports and FERC-required documentation.
- Drive continuous improvement opportunities that enhance safety, reliability, and operational performance.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Self-motivated individual who can work independently and collaboratively.
- Project management, structural design, and civil infrastructure experience preferred.
- Industrial manufacturing experience preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD preferred.
- Pulp and paper industry experience is a plus.
