Sappi’s new DiBase portfolio represents a range of premium base papers specifically developed as substrate materials for functional layers such as water- or solvent-based barrier coatings.
An excellent base paper is, of course, the fundamental prerequisite for high-quality barrier solutions. It must provide an outstanding surface for uniform coating while remaining robust enough for high-speed conversion on packaging machines.
The new premium base paper portfolio at a glance
Sappi has developed four specialised variants to meet a range of requirements covering aesthetics, haptics and print quality.
DiBase Pro Gloss: A paper with a glossy coated print side and a pre-coated reverse side for functional layers, it offers excellent hold-out for coatings and is ideal for high-performance rotogravure printing. Available in in 70, 80 and 95 g/m² It.
DiBase Pro Natural: This uncoated paper features a pre-coated reverse side for functional layers while giving a natural impression, and is characterised by excellent runnability and good flexo printability. Available in 55, 65 and 85 g/m².
DiBase Natural: An uncoated, super-calendered paper that impresses with its natural look and feel. Despite being uncoated, it provides very good coating hold-out and high smoothness. Available in 40, 45, 50, 54, 67 and 77 g/m.
- DiBase Lucent: A unique element in the portfolio – a highly translucent, uncoated paper that enables paper-based packaging with visibility and is optimised for the application of functional layers. Available in 32, 40 and 50 g/m²
