How rethinking sustainability in the release liners industry can drive value creation

This year’s AWA Global Release Liner Summit saw lively discussion about uncertain times – and positive approaches to progress.

The turbulent geopolitical situation was front-of-mind for delegates attending this year’s early spring AWA Global Release Liner Summit in Amsterdam.

The theme of the summit was “Innovation and sustainability”, with a Sappi presentation and talk led by Director Sustainability Sarah Price and Manager Technology & Development Wolfgang Hoffman showing how fast-moving current events link to evolving sustainability trends.

Talking on the subject of “Navigating sustainability: accelerating together”, Sarah and Wolfgang explored how, even at a time of turbulent geopolitics, corporate sustainability is still evolving – and how it is shifting from being a reflection of ethics to a driver of value creation.

That value creation – as reflected in Sappi Europe’s pro-active, partnership approach to providing innovative, sustainable solutions for the release liners industry – can do much to ameliorate the problems caused for costs and supply lines by the current situation.

It’s an approach that also has the power to diminish the inevitable uncertainties arising from the implementation of new regulations in the shape of the PPWR – another hot discussion topic among conference delegates.
