Cahaba River Society

Grant Awarded: $47,820

The Cahaba River Society (CRS) is a nonprofit founded in 1988 to promote river stewardship as well as climate-resilient solutions for growing southeastern communities.

Through such programs as Water-Smart Growth and CLEAN, CRS works to restore freshwater habitat, recreational uses, greenways and tourism. The Society sees the Cahaba River as a vital artery for the community and a catalyst for community and economic improvement. CRS seeks to raise awareness of its importance by producing two multi-use communication pieces — a printed storybook and a video about the river and its watershed. Both are meant to inform and help raise funds for other river protection projects.
