Training and development

We aim to provide successful learning solutions that enhance your personal development, so you can learn new skills, adapt to change and help make a difference to Sappi as whole.

We believe our people make us a winning organisation and ultimately underpin our success. That means when you join Sappi, you'll be part of a business that's committed to helping employees reach their full potential.

Whether it's through developing knowledge, skills and abilities or providing opportunities for new experiences, training plays an integral role at Sappi. It helps us continue to grow, inspires productivity and influences our ability to retain valued employees.

To determine the training agenda for each year, we conduct a rigorous needs analysis underpinned by the performance management process. We run a number of development initiatives, for example we:

  • on-the-job training to develop practical skills and confidence
  • structured training to ensure that employees are up-to-date with theoretical aspects related to their field of work, and
  • training in soft skills such as communication to develop well-rounded employees.

So you can be assured that you'll be joining a team of skilled, knowledgeable and motivated individuals who perform to the best of their ability and make Sappi a great place to work.

Our skills development strategy is aligned with government’s focus on integrated workplace learning and skills development, and aims to develop a pool of the scarce and critical skills needed to enhance our own sustainability and that of our industry.
