Saving energy without a cooling hood - Ehingen Mill

Yes, I care.

Because it is possible to maintain the quality of our products whilst saving energy and money at the same time.

This idea was born out of chance and necessity: the cooling hood of our coating machine broke which meant that we were forced to run the coating process without cooling. This worked surprisingly well and prompted the question – is the cooling hood even necessary?

We conducted a series of tests and found the right settings to enable us to produce our standard high quality paper without the need for a cooling hood.

The decommissioning of the coating machine’s cooling hood saves 2.690 MWh per year.

I make Sappi eco-effective. How about you?
