Sappi’s People behind Paper concept drives value at DRUPA 2012

Brussels, 22 June 2012

The “Olympics of Printing” are over, medals have been distributed and post-analysis is fully underway. Sappi Fine Paper Europe is energised and optimistic as a result of its drupa 2012 experience. Our positioning as an innovative company with product examples such as Jaz, the only coated inkjet digital paper, and our emphasis on adding value through our People behind Paper concept hit the mark.

Sappi took a new approach to its presence at drupa this year. Rather than sticking to a conventional stand structure, the People behind Paper concept allowed us to be present in 3 separate halls, getting as close to customers as possible and showing them that we are more than a paper manufacturing company. “New alliances with customers and suppliers are key for us as a company,” remarkedMarco Eikelenboom, Sales and Marketing Director, “which is why our concept worked so well for us. It allowed us to interact with visitors, demonstrate our consulting skills and highlight the partnerships we are fostering”

According to Mia Coenen and Judith Lelleck, in charge of logistics and coordination for Sappi at drupa, building a rocket into the hall was probably one of the biggest and most complex challenges for the event, but it really made huge visual impact, attracting curious crowds to the Houston stand! Houston is Sappi’snew online knowledge platform specifically developed as a support tool for professionals working in the paper and graphic industries.

One of the main themes for this year’s drupa was inevitably the digitalization of the printing process in general. Sappi already has its finger on the pulse in this domain, proudly showcasing Jaz, a high-quality coated paper specifically made for high speed digital web printing. It is the result of very successful partnership between Sappi and HP.  Another great partnership with Kurz, hinderer+mühlich, Kietz, and Sappi’s Algro Design® was a real hit with visitors with thousands of stunning posters distributed, highlighting the impact that the combination of high quality paper, machinery and hot stamping foil techniques can have on a printed image.

We’re already in training for the next drupa in 2016!
