Sappi 2018 Calendar - May Feature

Artwork, inspiration and artist

Inspiration:

Inspired by the relationship between the birds, trees, paper and the humans who benefit, this tells a story of how nature grows with technology. Created by using only paper from Sappi, this collage uses imagery that portrays the many aspects of the company as one. With one man and one bird sitting on his shoulder, as well as the visuals of the trees, tree bark and wood pulp that represent the Sappi Forests in the location of Howick, KwaZulu-Natal. Making use of images used in previous Sappi calendars, we see how Sappi has grown and inspired growth around the world.

More about the artist:

Frans began creating art in 2005 drawing on his years as a fashion designer. He was inspired to paint figures and portraits in detailed costumes and intricate fabrics.
