Youth Design Boston

Grant Awarded: $10,000

Youth Design Boston (in partnership with AIGA Boston) is a unique mentoring program connecting inner city high school students with professional design mentors and internship opportunities.

Since Youth Design Boston was started in 2003, twenty students have graduated from the program, a high percentage of which have decided to pursue college-level focus in art and design. Another ten students are expected to graduate this summer.

The number of talented Boston youth attracted to, and deserving of participating in this program is three times larger than the number of jobs that can be made available. The goal is to grow the program to 25 students every summer. Concurrently YDB is working to make this a national program, bringing the opportunity to many more students.
