Sappi Fine Paper Europe embraces new technology for a multi-dimensional reading experience in latest edition of What’s Next Magazine Language and communication are core to the Spring 2012 edition of Sappi Fine Paper Europe’s What’s Next Magazine, designed to show how paper and printing techniques can add value to publications. Layar, a new smart phone based technology that adds a new dimension to printed content will be used for the first time in the magazine, and insights into multilingualism and language choice will be shared with readers.
In the light of further, sustained increases in raw materials, energy and transport costs, Sappi Fine Paper Europe has reviewed current margins for its Graphic Woodfree papers and will raise its prices where they have become unsustainable.
The wealth of packaging possibilities offered by Fusion, Sappi’s most recent portfolio addition, will be highlighted at drupa 2012. Designed for lamination to corrugated board, the premium-quality, high bright, white liner, delivers greater shelf shout helping brands ensure their products stand out from the competition.
Printers from the Sappi Trading region have again achieved outstanding results in 2012 Sappi Trading Printers of the Year awards. They won ten out of eleven gold awards with additional twenty silver and twenty-nine bronze awards! This means that Sappi Trading stands a very good chance of once again bringing home Elephant-trophies from the Sappi International Printers of the Year awards.

In 2012, as part of a number of initiatives that Sappi is taking to work more closely with its customers under the banner of Sappi, the art of adding value, the company announced its decision to go and meet the winners of the European Printers of the Year and celebrate with them locally (rather than have the winners come to them).
The creative, high quality and sustainable paper production capabilities of Sappi’s Alfeld Mill have received leading industry recognition with a number of nominations for the PPI Awards 2012.
