SFPE joins forces with HP

Brussels, 14 February 2011 - Sappi Fine Paper Europe has announced that it has joined forces with HP to develop coated papers for the high-speed inkjet market.

As a result of this cooperation, the two companies are presenting JazTM silk at the Hunkeler Innovationdays in Lucerne, Switzerland between 14th and 17th February.

JazTM silk is a coated paper for high-quality graphic applications such as direct mail or commercial print. This new paper grade has drawn on the experience of HP to combine the flexibility of inkjet with the high quality result that you would expect from a Sappi paper.

This means good looks can now be combined with the efficiency of digital printing to produce vibrant, personalized customer communication.

Anne-Sophie Gombart, Business Development Manager Digital papers for Sappi, said, “This is a great example of the power of collaboration to design innovative products that actually lead the digital market.

“This dream team of the best in paper combined with the best in inkjet technology means a new era for the print industry.

“New technologies open up opportunities in a dynamic media landscape that is changing swiftly.

“Full-colour personalised printed communication, with offset look and feel and that can be produced quickly, is now available to many more businesses than ever before.  It is a revolution and it is happening today.”

JazTM silk is available in 115 and 130g/m². Further weights from 90 to 150g/m² will be available from April 2011 on. JazTM silk is sustainably produced in Lanaken, Belgium. The Sappi Lanaken mill is ISO 14001, FSC and PEFC Chain of Custody certified and EMAS certified. Jaz is fully recyclable.
