Located on the banks of the St. Louis River since 1898, our Cloquet Mill produces some of our most requested coated fine papers including McCoy, Opus and Flo. The mill specializes in coated free sheet graphic paper. During 2013 we will also begin to deliver specialised cellulose dissolving wood pulp to the market.
Our Cloquet Mill actively takes steps to preserve the environment. As an integrated facility, the mill is highly efficient in terms of energy generation and consumption. That efficiency, combined with the use of high levels of renewable fuels (bark and black liquor), means that the mill has a very low carbon footprint. Furthermore, we have undertaken a concerted effort to reduce materials to landfill. The mill uses Elemental Chlorine Free (ECF) bleaching which is considered by the EPA to be the Best Available Control Technology.
Cloquet's environmental management system is ISO 14001:2004 certified and the mill achieved triple Chain of Custody certification from the Forest Stewardship Council®, Sustainable Forestry Initiative and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification programs. The wood procurement system is also certified to the Sustainable Forestry Initiative's Fiber Sourcing standard.
