Commitment to excellence in printed communication

The Sappi Printers of the Year awards are considered the ‘Oscars’ of the print world. They recognise master craftsmanship and honour excellence in print. Winning printers in the regional competitions in Southern Africa, Europe, North America and the Trading region (Central and South America, Asia and Australasia) compete in the global event, Sappi International Printers of the Year.

 

The value of quality printing has never been in doubt, but since the launch of the Sappi International Printers of the Year awards in 1995, the awards have established the global benchmark against which any high-quality printer can measure themselves. On the advice of past winners, the competition recently evolved into a biennial event, to allow the winning printers to obtain maximum benefits from their honoured status.

 

Since the awards in 2010, Sappi has combined the power of print with the immediacy of the web. The 11 category winners were announced by Ralph Boëttger, Chief Executive Officer Sappi Limited, here on the Sappi website. The winning printers received their magnificent elephant trophies (created by world renowned sculptor Donald Greig) at local celebratory events, hosted by Sappi, and attended by the printer’s staff and customers. The elephant symbolises Sappi’s South African heritage as well as the qualities of strength and courage required of printers who strive for print excellence.
