Sappi Ideas that Matter
'Ideas that Matter' is a program from Sappi to support design for the public good.
We award monetary grants to designers throughout the world to help them create and implement projects that serve the causes that are closest to their hearts.
We want to encourage ideas that have the potential to change our lives, our communities, and our world.
If you have a cause you would like to support, we invite you to make your idea a reality.
The program
Ideas that Matter is an initiative that was launched world-wide by Sappi in 1999 to provide substantial grants that enable the implementation of creative ideas designed to support social and environmental causes.
Sappi invites graphic designers from Europe, North America and Southern Africa, to create printed communication campaigns for causes they want to support.
Sappi has made US$1 million available for successful applicants around the world to realise their creative concepts and campaigns.
The rationale
Designers possess a unique talent that can help transform and develop society.
Graphic designers have consistently demonstrated their desire to do work for the benefit of society.
Our initiative is a way to assist them to make a difference by providing them with the financial support they need to implement their Ideas that Matter.
