Our environment
The Cloquet Mill continues to take steps to preserve the environment. The new and expanded pulp mill has helped significantly to improve air quality around the mill.
New cooking and bleaching technologies have eliminated the need to use elemental chlorine in the manufacturing process. As a result, more than 12 million pounds of chlorine per year have been eliminated from the bleaching process. In addition, chlorinated materials in the mill's effluent have been reduced by 70%.
The mill complies with the US Environmental Protection Agency's Cluster Rules; the air and water regulatory standards established specifically for the US pulp and paper industry.
Our community
Employees at Cloquet Mill are committed to giving back to their local communities. They regularly volunteer their time with local organizations and make financial contributions to a range of community groups. A mill-based community relations committee co-ordinates local community outreach efforts to non-profit groups such as the United Way, the local Fire and Police departments and over 20 local school programs.
