Tree farming guidelines



The first edition of the 'Tree Farmers Manual' was published in 1997. Important developments such as changes in the South African legislation; continuous research and advanced technology; global developments regarding forest certification and the increased importance of Sustainable Forest Management (SFM), has necessitated a revised second edition of the manual.

The aim of this edition, 'Tree Farming Guidelines for Sappi Outgrowers’, is not only to provide a practical guide to timber forestry, but also to place greater emphasis on sustainable development of natural resources, greater economic viability and increased social awareness, thus ensuring the protection of our forests for future generations.
